Immigrant and Refugee Communities, Neighbours, Friends and Families (IRCNFF) Campaign

The Ontario Coalition of Agencies Serving Immigrants (OCASI) is working in partnership with IRCNFF to expand its reach by recruiting and training Peer Champions across Ontario. The Campaign’s goal is to raise awareness about the warning signs of violence against immigrant and refugee women, promote bystander intervention within immigrant and refugee communities across Ontario,  raise awareness about the unique barriers immigrant and refugees face when seeking support, and advocacy.

A Peer Champion has been hired for the Brantford community and will hold a minimum of two events to build knowledge, action, and leadership on gender-based violence.

A FREE Information and Awareness Session on Violence Against Immigrant & Refugee Women, with a special focus on the barriers faced, is being held on Wednesday September 27, 2017 from 10:00am-1:00pm at the Brantford Public Library. This event is for service providers or anyone who is working closely with immigrant and refugee communities. Please register by September 10th, 2017 by emailing anita.ircnff@gmail.com.

BRAVE will be supporting this local Campaign along with YMCA Immigrant and Settlement Services and Nova Vita Domestic Violence Prevention Services.
